In 1909, travelling textiles salesman Charles Henry Jones, founded Jones & Co supplying buttons for ladies’ garments. He operated from two small cottages in Nottingham city centre, but the business grew, survived the war years, and in its heyday was selling 200 million buttons a year to the fashion industry.
In the 1980s it diversified and launched Jones Interiors which rapidly became a leading name in the textiles and soft furnishings sector and is now an industry influencer.
Jones now has 70 staff working in Nottingham, with the interiors division opening an additional office in Hong Kong in 2006. With a diverse range of products together with skills in design, finishing and development, Jones Interiors has carved an international reputation.
The button division is still going strong and has one of the few dye houses in the UK where it produces buttons for every level of fashion house, from high street to haute couture.
Jones and Co continues to be family owned, with members of the family on the board of directors. The company has a bright future with Jones Interiors playing a significant part in its success.
